Afida Idrisi has a gift for making the overlooked feel exciting. As Naturalist Explorers’ communication associate and social-media content head, she turns nature into stories — breaking big ideas into small, simple parts and talking about the common things most people walk past without a second glance. The result feels less like a lecture and more like a conversation with a friend.

Afida Idrisi Experience & Memorable Field Discoveries

Certified in Sustainable Green Ecotourism and holding a B.Sc. in Life Science, she works primarily with early-childhood, primary and middle-school groups on tribal ecology and sensory nature walks. Her most memorable field moment came during a birding shoot, when she recorded an unusual, almost monkey-like call she couldn’t identify. After sharing it with an experts’ group, the mystery bird turned out to be a White-eyed Buzzard — a species last recorded at that location back in 2017. Spotting something so rare during a completely random shoot made the moment unforgettable.

How Afida Idrisi Inspires Community & Nature Connection

Beyond the field, Afida has helped build a genuine community through social media, WhatsApp groups and conversations with people who share her curiosity. Her belief is quietly powerful: people first need to know nature to truly love it, and once they love it, protecting it comes naturally. The best part of her work, she says, is watching someone spot something on their own, feel connected to it, and want to share that excitement with others.
